FIRM HISTORY

In 1976, Jim and Joyce Bailey moved to Jonesville from the Detroit area with their two young children Greg (age 9) and Hope (age 4). Jim had just received his CPA license, and they "hung out a shingle" to provide tax, accounting, and auditing services from their home on US-12, just west of Moscow.

Jim and Joyce were both graduates of Addison High School, so this move was a "homecoming" of sorts. Jim's family ran the general store in Wheatland Township for many years, and Joyce's family owned a farm in Somerset Township, which has now been in the Lane family for over 100 years.

Their son, Greg, joined the firm in 1992 after graduating from Hillsdale College, and they became Bailey & Bailey, P.C. The company moved to its present location across from the State Police Post in 1994, and then became Bailey, Hodshire & Company, P.C. in 2002 when Kelly Hodshire joined the firm.

Jim and Joyce are now fully retired, enjoying life at their home near Lake Somerset.

Greg Bailey 
Partner, CPA

Greg Bailey has been a CPA since 1994 and has extensive experience in tax preparation, business accounting, and audits of governmental and nonprofit entities. A graduate of Jonesville High School and Hillsdale College, Greg spent three years in sales/marketing before returning to the "family business” that his parents Jim & Joyce Bailey established in Jonesville in 1976.

Greg has served on the Hillsdale City Council and as Mayor of the City of Hillsdale, and he currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Hillsdale Hospital and Art Works of Hillsdale.

Greg and his wife, Patti, reside in Hillsdale. They have two grown children, Megan and Ryan. He enjoys fishing, playing cards, singing in the Hillsdale Arts Chorale, and spending time with friends and family.

Kelly Hodshire

Kelly Hodshire graduated from North Adams-Jerome High School in 1985. She earned her Bachelor's degree in accountancy from Hillsdale College in 1989.

She has worked in both the public and private sectors of the accounting world over the last 30 years. She has been with Bailey, Hodshire & Company, PC since 2002. She specializes in tax preparation for individuals and businesses, audits of local governments, accounting for small businesses, payroll and payroll tax preparation, and consulting.

Kelly currently lives in North Adams, Michigan with her husband of 27 years and their two children.

wendy Mccumber

Wendy McCumber is a lifelong resident of Hillsdale county. She graduated from Camden Frontier High School and earned her Bachelor's degree in accountancy from Ferris State University.

She has worked in both the public and private sectors of the accounting world over the last 28 years, preparing taxes for individuals, farmers and businesses, preparing financial statements, auditing and consulting.

Wendy has been a part of Bailey, Hodshire & Company P.C. for the last six years. She currently lives in Hillsdale with her husband and their two daughters.

Colleen kelley
​bookkeeper

Colleen Kelley has worked in bookkeeping for 44 years, joining us in 2018 after her retirement from Hillsdale Community Schools. At HCS, she worked in the Superintendent's office in accounting for 25 years. She earned her associates in accounting degree at Jackson College.

Colleen moved to Hillsdale in 1986. She has one daughter, and twin grandsons who live in Iowa. 

She enjoys living an active lifestyle, and is a member of the Hillsdale First Presbyterian Church.

Nicki taylor
​office manager

Nikki Taylor joined the firm in March 2017 as Office Manager. 

Her previous work experience includes company Controller for 3 years at American Copper and Brass, LLC and 23 years at Recreation Creations, LLC as company Controller as well as experience in manufacturing and distribution, shipping, and customer service. 
​
A Hillsdale County native, she attended college at Jackson Business Institute and currently resides in Moscow with her husband. She has a daughter, Morgan, and step-son, Joshua. She enjoys scrapbooking and spending time at Lake Michigan.
